About The Position

PrimeCare Medical, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work in the medical department at Westmoreland County Prison in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. The LPN provides comprehensive nursing care under the supervision of an RN and ensures relevant information is communicated to appropriate personnel. The role involves maintaining and updating secure electronic medical records, managing controlled substances and medical supplies, conducting sick calls, treating illnesses and injuries according to written protocol approved by the PCM Medical Director, and documenting patients’ symptoms, reactions, and progress. This is a full-time position with rotating weekends.

Requirements

Active LPN license in the state where the facility is located.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to multitask.
Strong patient assessment skills.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Demonstrated clinical competency.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive nursing care under the supervision of an RN.
Ensure relevant information is communicated to appropriate personnel.
Maintain, update, and secure electronic medical records.
Maintain accurate records of controlled substances, narcotics, and sharps in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.
Conduct sick calls for inmates/patients and provide treatment for illnesses and injuries according to written protocol approved by the PCM Medical Director.
Observe, report, and document inmates’/patients’ symptoms, reactions, and progress.
Participate in formulating the plan of care.
Record, retrieve, and file medical information in inmate/patient medical records.
