About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a licensed clinical who provides patient care within LPN scope of practice in a surgical clinic setting. This role supports physicians and clinical staff delivering safe, efficient, and compliant care while contributing to structured onboarding, workflow consistency, and operational excellence. The LPN performs both clinical and administrative duties consistent with state licensure and organizational policy to promote patient safety, regulatory compliance, and high-quality clinical outcomes.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing Program
  • Current, unrestricted North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON) LPN license
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Demonstrated knowledge of infection control, sterile technique, and basic health/safety precautions in a clinical setting
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows and patient care coordination
  • Administrative competency sufficient to support clinic operations
  • Strong professional communication skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessments within LPN scope of practice, including documenting medical histories, allergies, medications, and vital signs
  • Prepare patients, rooms, equipment, and supplies for examinations and procedures
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered by the provider and within LPN licensure
  • Assist with clinical procedures, wound care, suture/staple removal, specimen collection, and post-operative care
  • Communicate provider orders and aftercare instructions to patients
  • Coordinate surgery scheduling and ensure completion of pre-operative and post-operative documentation
  • Facilitate communication between patients, providers, and surgical facilities
  • Support follow-up care and patient compliance with treatment plans
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential EMR documentation
  • Ensure documentation supports appropriate billing and regulatory compliance
  • Respond to patient calls and prescription requests per provider direction
  • Recognize and respond to emergencies according to clinic policy
  • Assist with prior authorizations, task management, and clinic workflow coordination
  • Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and inventory in a compliant and organized condition
  • Support clinic efficiency, quality metrics, and patient satisfaction initiatives
  • Adhere to North Carolina Board of Nursing regulations, OSHA standards, universal precautions, and facility policies
  • Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Assist with safe patient transport and mobility
  • Comply with all federal, state, and organizational regulations
