About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care within various healthcare settings across the United States. This position involves providing direct nursing care under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians, ensuring patients' comfort, safety, and well-being. The LPN will be responsible for monitoring patient health, administering medications, and assisting with medical procedures to support treatment plans. Additionally, the role requires effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members to coordinate care and provide education. Ultimately, the LPN contributes to improving patient outcomes by maintaining accurate records and adhering to established healthcare protocols and standards.

Requirements

  • Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of employment within the United States.
  • Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of nursing principles, patient care techniques, and medical terminology.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The required skills enable the LPN to perform essential nursing duties such as patient assessment, medication administration, and documentation with accuracy and professionalism.
  • Effective communication skills are vital for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and compassionate care.
  • Knowledge of infection control and safety protocols helps maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a clinical or hospital setting.
  • Additional certifications such as IV therapy or medication administration.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Ability to speak a second language relevant to the patient population served.
  • Continuing education or specialized training in areas such as geriatrics or pediatrics.
  • Preferred skills, including experience with electronic health records and specialized certifications, enhance the LPN’s ability to deliver efficient and advanced care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic nursing care to patients, including monitoring vital signs, administering prescribed medications, and assisting with daily living activities.
  • Observe and report changes in patients’ conditions to registered nurses and physicians promptly.
  • Assist with wound care, catheterization, and other medical procedures as directed by healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting care provided and patient responses.
  • Educate patients and their families on health maintenance, medication management, and post-treatment care instructions.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and safety standards within the healthcare environment.
