About The Position

The University of Oklahoma is seeking Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) for multiple openings in the Tulsa area. This role involves direct patient care, including preparation for examinations, gathering vital information, patient follow-up, medication administration, and surgery scheduling. The position operates within an outpatient medical environment and requires adherence to patient safety and confidentiality guidelines.

Requirements

  • Proficient nursing skills applicable to this position.
  • Must be proficient in typing.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to work successfully with a diverse group of faculty, other staff, and patients.
  • Must be able to follow directions and work as part of a team.
  • Must be able to follow patient safety and confidentiality (HIPAA) guidelines.
  • HS/GED, AND: graduate of an approved Practical Nurse training program; or a recent graduate or a student nurse who will be graduating within 4-6 weeks
  • Must have a valid Licensed Practical Nurse license issued by the State of Oklahoma; or in the case of a recent or upcoming graduate, be eligible to obtain a license within 30 days of job interview.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient for examination by the physician by having charts ready, etc.
  • Takes and records various readings such as heart and respiratory rate, blood pressure, weight, body temperature, etc.
  • Collects samples from patients including blood, urine, etc.
  • Prepares samples for analysis or shipment.
  • Collects all laboratory reports, data, and records.
  • Makes follow up patient appointments, or follows up on patient appointments.
  • Answers routine questions from patients, family, etc.
  • Under direction of physician or other medical personnel, administers medication to patients.
  • Surgery Scheduling: To include booking operating rooms, ordering surgical supplies and arranging for all preoperative laboratory studies for patients.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
