Requirements

Active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practice Nurse in Pennsylvania
If possessing an active temporary practice permit, must obtain licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing
Must be able to perform essential job functions
Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements

Responsibilities

Carry out nursing care plans by taking vital signs, giving medications, and performing treatments
Observe inmate behavior and report physical and emotional needs to clinical staff
Provide first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), or automated external defibrillator (AED) support during medical emergencies
Update electronic health records and prepare reports for transfers or releases
Sterilize equipment and maintain adequate stock of medical supplies
Attend required trainings and meetings to maintain clinical competencies
