About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse provides skilled technical nursing care to patients according to predefined standards and a plan of care established by a Nurse Practitioner or Physician. Assumes other duties as assigned. The Licensed Practical Nurse provides care utilizing the MS Nurse Practice Act, the CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and Singing River Health System Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment and Services. Expectation is for all performed duties to be in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health care employees. Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited School of Nursing program for Licensed Practical Nursing.
  • Current State of Mississippi licensed as an LPN required.
  • Required to complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
  • Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days); must have appropriate level of de-escalation training.
  • 6 months nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone.
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels.
  • Demonstrate ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations is required.
  • Ability to maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations.
  • Possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette.
  • Possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word.
  • Demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages.
