About The Position

We are seeking a contingent Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Behavioral Health Team in Newark, Ohio. The Licensed Practical Nurse at National Youth Advocate Program provides medical assistance to the persons served including performing physical assessments and treating acute, minor illnesses as needed.

Requirements

Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse with valid licensure.
Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
Valid driver's license
Reliable personal transportation
Good driving record
Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability

Nice To Haves

Nursing experience working with adolescents is preferred.
Must be able to maintain compliance with attending agency required training programs.

Responsibilities

Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program's mission, values, and philosophies.
Perform physical assessments on each client upon arrival and intake.
Identify abnormal findings and notify the client's physician or consulting physicians.
Assure the need for medical treatment for illnesses and/or injuries are being met.
Assure the administration and implementation of physician orders, and when appropriate, educate the appropriate staff on administering medication and/or treatments as needed.
Assure all documentation and required record keeping is completed in a timely manner.
Assess minor illnesses and administer non-prescription medications per approved Standing Orders Policy.
Schedule and coordinate examinations by the consulting physician for each persons served.
Assure the program's compliance with Medical Policies and Procedures as well as Standing Orders.
Follow a team concept and support both agency goals and co-workers.
Effectively work with and be respectful and sensitive to persons from various cultures, socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, and racial backgrounds.
