About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) contributes to patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation under the supervision of registered nurses. The role provides direction and guidance in patient education and activities within the LPN’s education and demonstrated competencies. The LPN provides care in the Health Care Unit and housing units, implements practitioner-directed treatment programs, and communicates with nursing staff, physicians, and other relevant personnel. The position offers a day schedule and an available bonus of up to $2,000.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Have and maintain current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse in the state of employment.
Be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification.

Nice To Haves

A minimum of one year of clinic experience is preferred.
IV therapy certification, if administering IV therapy.

Responsibilities

Under RN supervision, assess patients’ physical, psychological, and social dimensions in the Health Care Unit and housing units, contribute to individualized treatment planning, and consult with RNs and staff as needed.
Implement treatment programs directed by Health Care Practitioners, administer medications—including IV therapy if certified—and perform diagnostic tests according to established protocols and procedures.
Collaborate in controlled substance counts at the beginning of each shift.
Follow safety techniques, procedures, and standard precautions while responding to codes or health emergencies within standard guidelines.
Assist in medical or minor surgical procedures and implement nutrition and therapeutic diet plans.
Document nursing encounters using SOAP charting and communicate effectively with nursing staff, physicians, and other relevant personnel.
Attend mandatory staff meetings and training sessions and follow policies and procedures while providing patient care.
