About The Position

Haverhill Public Schools is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide 1:1 support at Pentucket Lake Elementary School. This role is crucial for promoting and maintaining the physical and emotional health of students and staff, with a specific focus on supporting a Multi-Handicapped/Medically Fragile Classroom. The LPN will assist school nurses in various health office functions, including monitoring students, maintaining health records, and supporting daily living activities.

Requirements

• Current Massachusetts State License for LPN.
• CPR certification.
• License/degree from accredited program for LPN.
• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Must be able to function as health services team member, prioritize, have good organization skills and be able to multitask.
• Ability to use good judgment and exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with others; ability to respect confidential matters.
• Must have traits of resourcefulness, thoroughness, initiative, patience, courtesy, dependability, and enthusiasm.
• Basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience as an LPN preferred.
• Prefer prior experience with children in a school or similar setting.

Responsibilities

• Support the functions of the school health office.
• Assist school nurse(s) in promoting and maintaining optimal physical and emotional health of students and staff.
• Support Multi-Handicapped/Medically Fragile Classroom.
• Monitor and support students in medical waiting areas until parent/guardian/emergency contact picks up child.
• Escort students to and from the health office.
• Maintain health records and document pertinent information.
• Assist with data entry.
• Maintain confidentiality of student’s medical issues.
• Support Activities of Daily living for all children.
