Requirements

Active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Pennsylvania
If possessing an active temporary practice permit, must obtain licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing
Must be able to perform essential job functions
Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements

Responsibilities

Implement nursing care plans, check vital signs, administer medications, and perform treatments
Observe inmates and report physical and emotional behaviors
Prepare and administer medications ordered by the physician and record all treatments
Carry out therapeutic treatments prescribed for inmates
Follow all required infection control procedures
Assist inmates with daily living activities and hygiene to ensure basic physical care needs are met
