Under direct supervision of the registered nurse provides direct patient care to assigned patients. This role requires knowledge of nursing theory and practice acquired through an accredited school of nursing. The Licensed Practical Nurse will assist in gathering data to assess the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of patients. They will collaborate with the registered nurse and interdisciplinary team members in planning for patient needs upon admission, review care plans, and provide input into updating and revising them. The role supports direct patient care utilizing clinical nursing skills and judgment, provides education and reinforcement for patients and families, and initiates appropriate emergency measures when necessary. Responsibilities also include preparing patients for tests and procedures, administering and documenting medications, delegating care to non-licensed personnel, reporting to the Registered Nurse, and performing other duties as assigned.
