Reporting to the Clinic Manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to our patients and physicians and executing on the organization’s strategic objectives as it relates to clinic operations and patient care.

Requirements

  • Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA)
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Strong communication and patient care skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to adapt to challenges and change
  • Able to follow directions as given by physicians and management

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in primary care or medical clinic setting preferred
  • Experience with Med Access software is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in a busy medical clinic setting
  • Triage patients and assess vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, and weight
  • Prepare patients for physician examinations and procedures
  • Assist physicians with minor procedures and treatments
  • Administer injections, immunizations, and medications as ordered by the physician
  • Perform EKGs, wound care, ear flushing, and dressings, etc.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens (biopsies, urine, swabs)
  • Conduct point-of-care testing such as urine dips, pregnancy tests, etc.
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) and chart patient information
  • Provide patient education regarding medications, treatments, and follow-up care
  • Monitor and maintain clinic supplies and medical equipment
  • Ensure infection prevention and control protocols are followed
  • Support physicians and clinic staff to maintain efficient patient flow
  • Coordinate with pharmacies, labs, and other healthcare providers as needed
  • Participate in clinic quality improvement and safety practices
