About The Position

Dulcina Hospice is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join their team on a casual basis. This role is within a mission-driven organization, Covenant Care and Covenant Living, whose mission is to continue the healing ministry of Jesus by serving with compassion, upholding the sacredness of life in all stages, and caring for the whole person – body, mind and soul. The LPN will be responsible for managing the day-to-day delivery of care to residents by motivating and empowering the team. They will work cohesively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure the nursing process (Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation) is individualized and ongoing, addressing the changing needs of residents. The position is responsible for ensuring residents receive quality care and service according to Covenant Care policies and procedures, and provides support to residents, their family, and visitors during the resident’s end-of-life journey, enabling choice, dignity, privacy, respect, and individuality. The LPN will model the organization's mission, vision, and values, and collaborate effectively as a professional team player.

Requirements

Graduate of an approved Practical Nurse Program required
Current registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) required
Current CPR / First Aid Certification / Equivalency required
Strong critical assessment skills
Exhibits open and sincere approach to relating to people by demonstrating respect and compassion for everyone equally
Recognizes and responds effectively to verbal and non-verbal cues with exceptional active listening skills
Ability and knowledge to work in a continuing care setting and the ability to deal with difficult behaviors
Ability to cope with frequent changes such as daily routine, workload, shifts and resident needs and possess exceptional multi-tasking and time management skills
This position requires you to be vaccinated against all required communicable diseases under Covenant Care’s OHS policy

Nice To Haves

Minimum 2 years of experience preferred
Ability to speak French an asset
Hospice and/or palliative care experience
LEAP (Learning Essential Approaches to Palliative Care) preferred

Responsibilities
