About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse works under the direction of the provider and the Arizona State Nurse Practice Act to provide professional nursing care for clinic patients in compliance with nursing standards and regulations. This role involves triaging patients by phone or in person, receiving and implementing telephone physician orders, and maintaining clinical communication in a dynamic environment. The position is responsible for maintaining all applicable KHI Policies and Procedures. Key duties include escorting patients to exam rooms, preparing them for exams by taking vital signs, recording history, and noting the reason for seeking care. The role also involves cross-training in data entry, balancing of accounts, charging fees, and collecting payments. Additionally, the LPN will schedule/confirm appointments, maintain and facilitate communication between patients, family, and clinical staff, and report to Public Health as directed by the provider. Responsibilities extend to maintaining the work area, including exam rooms, supplies, medications, and immunizations, performing CLIA waived lab tests, obtaining specimens, performing proficiency testing, running controls for waived tests, and potentially performing venipuncture. Participation in division meetings is also expected.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a practical or vocational nursing program
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Current, valid Arizona LPN license or compact state LPN/LVN license
  • BLS through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail
  • Knowledge of and ability to use computer hardware and software applications
  • Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocol
  • Knowledge of and ability to implement direct care, newborn through geriatric
  • Knowledge of and ability to use basic medical terminology

Nice To Haves

  • One to two years’ experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse in a clinical outpatient setting

Responsibilities
