The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) prepares and rooms patients for examination by obtaining vital signs and documenting pertinent health information. They perform laboratory procedures, assist physicians with procedures and surgeries, and administer medications under physician/provider orders. The LPN also provides basic patient education, follows through with necessary requests, and communicates with physicians and the healthcare team. Advanced clinical tasks may be performed with demonstrated competency and supervision. The role involves organizing and preparing exam rooms, stocking supplies, maintaining equipment, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties. Routine maintenance and quality monitoring of clinic equipment are also part of the responsibilities. The LPN participates in patient-centered initiatives and quality improvement activities, demonstrating knowledge of age-appropriate care.
