About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct, quality clinical care to residents and supervises nursing assistants working with residents assigned to each unit. The role involves observing and evaluating residents’ physical and emotional status, responding to emergencies, providing holistic care within the scope of an LPN license, and supporting medication and supply readiness. The LPN also performs required administrative and reporting duties and follows facility procedures for reporting occupational exposures.

Requirements

• Current, valid state LPN license that is maintained.
• Current, valid CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Visit residents on the assigned unit daily to observe and evaluate their physical and emotional status, and notify the charge nurse, physician, and/or Director of Nursing of changes in a resident’s condition.
• Identify resident problems and emergency situations and initiate immediate lifesaving measures in the absence of a physician.
• Provide holistic care for residents within the scope of the LPN license.
• Assist in monitoring the inventory of medications, medical supplies, and equipment to ensure adequate supplies are available to meet residents’ needs.
• Complete medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, and other necessary administrative duties.
• Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals according to facility policies and procedures.
• Supervise nursing assistants working with residents assigned to each unit.
