About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse provides care to patients in the Emergency Department under the direction of a registered nurse or physician and within the scope of the nurse’s license. The role contributes to patient assessments and well-being, administers medications and monitors for adverse reactions, performs laboratory tests and therapeutic services, and educates patients and families about treatment plans, self-care after discharge, holistic health needs, available resources, and follow-up care. The position is at Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola in Pensacola, Florida, and is scheduled for a full-time day shift.

Requirements

• Florida Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse credential, obtained before the hire date or job transfer date.
• BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of the hire date or job transfer date; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
• High school diploma equivalency or one year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience. Required professional licensure or certification may be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under the direction of a registered nurse or physician, within the scope of the license.
• Contribute to patient assessments and ensure patient well-being.
• Administer medications and observe patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
• Perform laboratory tests and therapeutic services.
• Educate patients and families about disease treatment plans, post-discharge self-care, holistic health needs, available resources, and follow-up care.
