This role involves providing basic nursing care, including vital sign monitoring, catheter insertion, and patient comfort measures. The Licensed Practical Nurse will be responsible for accurate documentation of patient assessments, interventions, responses, needs, limitations, and progress. Key responsibilities include communicating with RNs and physicians, collaborating with healthcare team members, and educating patients and their significant others on health information. The position requires performing direct patient care according to established standards, administering medications, and observing patient responses. Additionally, the role demands proficiency in handling emergencies, managing patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, and completing administrative tasks such as medical forms and charting. The nurse will also receive and record physician phone orders, document accidents/incidents, verify patient identity before procedures, ensure adequate supplies, manage narcotic records, and provide thorough shift reports. Adherence to safety and infection control policies, including hand hygiene and proper use of personal protective equipment, is mandatory.
