Requirements

  • A current license to practice as a licensed practical nurse in Nebraska or authority based on the Nurse Licensure Compact to practice as a licensed practical nurse in Nebraska is required.
  • Knowledge of licensed practical nursing theory and practice.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of patient care and treatments.
  • Knowledge of medication and medication administration procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of care and use of medical equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to evaluate nursing needs and to exercise competent judgment.
  • Ability to evaluate patient behaviors, symptoms, and effects of medications.
  • Ability to plan and monitor work of direct care staff.
  • Ability to apply proper body mechanics for heavy lifting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in exact detail.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain records, charts and reports.
  • Ability to maintain a helpful and sympathetic attitude toward patients.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and push/pull occasionally up to 75 lbs. on a daily basis.
  • Ability to frequently bend at the waist and neck and frequently twist at the waist and walk or stand up to 90% of the shift.
