It is intended to support safe, consistent, and efficient patient care during orientation and ongoing practice.

Requirements

• Licensed Practical Nurse
• Experience in Gynecology
• Proficiency in EMR documentation
• Ability to handle specimens and complete requisitions
• Knowledge of equipment cleaning, sterilization, and restocking
• Familiarity with patient education and discharge instructions
• Experience with autoclaving instruments
• Understanding of inventory management and ordering supplies
• Ability to manage patient flow and room turnover
• Experience with various gynecological procedures and their preparation
• Strong assessment skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Review daily schedule and appointment types to plan for the day
• Prepare exam rooms and physician tray based on booked procedures
• Perform pre-appointment patient intake and assessments
• Assist physician during examinations and procedures as requested
• Maintain patient flow and room turnover
• Complete documentation in EMR
• Handle specimens (labeling, storage, lab coordination) & complete requisitions
• Assist with incoming phone calls and patient call backs
• Review and complete messages regarding patient lab results, concerns, or check ins, etc
• Equipment cleaning, sterilization, and restocking
• Patient education and discharge instructions
• Autoclaving procedure instruments and pessary's
• End-of-day room reset and supply reorder check
• Take inventory and check sample medications for quantity and expiration
• Take inventory and check lab and procedure supplies for quantity and expiration
• Assist with lab tracking and update spreadsheet
• Submit supply reorder list to manager, keep a copy with date in folder at nurse's desk.
• Health mail Mirena IUD patients the 3-month questionnaire if applicable, set a reminder to follow up with patient after 2 weeks to check for completion. If completed reading through document, only notify Dr du Tait if there are red flags or an ultrasound that may need to be ordered.
• Pt to complete health questionnaire and Consent forms, height, weight.
• Weight only if greater than 1 year since last weight check, <60 years old, peas, glp1's, or a referral needs to be sent off.
• Blood pressure only indicated if peas, irregular cycles, perimenopause, hrt, or BP concerns noted in previous visit notes.
• Initial stream urine sample only indicated if greater than 3 weeks from last period and relevant to clinic visit, pregnancy confirmation, or procedure appointment and <50 years old.
• Midstream urine only indicated if urinary concerns, acute pelvic pain, feeling unwell with no clear diagnosis. (Always send Dr du Tait an instant chat with any abnormal urine dip results. Always double check with Dr du Tait before sending for urine culture and urinalysis.)
• Initial and midstream urine sample (2 sample cups), weight, blood pressure, heart rate, and complete first few pages of prenatal record.
• Weight, blood pressure, heart rate, doppler/gel in the room if >12 weeks gestation, update prenatal record.
• Assess for urinary concerns. Set up tray with sponge forceps, tenaculum, and xylocaine ointment 5%.
• Endometrial Biopsy- Formalin container, tenaculum, endometrial curette, os locator, 5ml syringe, spinal needle, 2% lidocaine.
• IUD Insertion- Uterine sound, os locator, tenaculum, long scissors, 5ml syringe, spinal needle, 2% lidocaine.
• IUD Removal- IUD hook, Bozeman forceps, sponge forceps
• Vulvar Biopsy- Formalin container, betadine solution in cup, 3 sterile 2x2 gauze, long cotton swab, silver nitrate, 4 mm punch biopsy, short scissors, tissue forceps, needle driver, 4-0 vicryl suture, 5 ml syringe, 25G 1 ½" needle, 2% lidocaine.
• Cervical Polyp Removal- Formalin container, sponge forceps, Bozeman forceps, long scissors, long cotton swab x2, silver nitrate, 2 2x2 sterile gauze, Monsel's solution with paper cup.
• Cervical Biopsy- Formalin container, ECC tool, Kevorkian tool, long cotton swab x2, silver nitrate, 2 2x2 sterile gauze, Monsel's solution with paper cup. lugol's solution if requested.
• Nexplanon Insertion- Fenestrated drape, sterile gloves, surgical skin marker, 5 ml syringe, 25G 1 ½" needle, 2% lidocaine, sterile gauze, large band aid, 3M coban, medical tape, steri strips, scalpel blade and handle, betadine with cup.
• Nexplanon Removal- Betadine with cup, Kelly forceps x2, 5ml syringe, 25G 1 ½" needle, 2% lidocaine, sterile gauze, scalpel blade and handle, steri strips, large band aid.
