About The Position

Erlanger Behavioral Health Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee, is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide nursing care within the scope of practice and in accordance with state Nurse Practice Act regulations, facility and corporate policies, procedures, and protocols. The role supports psychiatric patients across a range of age groups, including adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. The nurse is expected to demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude, work collaboratively, and prioritize patient safety.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
Current LPN/LVN license as required by the state.
CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification; training is available upon hire and offered by the facility.

Nice To Haves

One or more years of nursing experience in the clinical area served by the facility.
First aid, if required by the state or facility.

Responsibilities

Monitor patient health and provide basic care using the nursing process within the LPN/LVN scope of practice, in support of care plan objectives and goals.
Model customer-service expectations and respond urgently to patient-safety concerns.
Collaborate with others to address patients’ physical, biopsychosocial, age-related, developmental, and cultural needs, and acknowledge and work to resolve customer complaints.
Provide for patients’ basic comfort and implement individualized nursing interventions identified in the plan of care.
Apply appropriate interventions to support patients’ progress toward wellness and maintenance of wellness.
Discuss care with patients, listen to their concerns, and report status changes and concerns to registered nurses and doctors.
Communicate therapeutically and professionally with patients, visitors, coworkers, and others involved in treatment.
Deliver medications safely in accordance with policies and procedures, physicians’ orders, and current practice.
Maintain professional nursing practice standards in accordance with facility policies and procedures, external governing and credentialing bodies, performance-improvement standards, and psychiatric nursing standards.
Provide thorough and accurate reporting and documentation of patient symptoms, responses, and progress.
Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
