About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, or Nursing Supervisor, and is ultimately responsible to the Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing and Director of Quality Care Management. The LPN participates in the development, maintenance, or modification of the nursing plan of care. They provide for the emotional, physical comfort, and safety of residents and their families. The LPN also assists in the supervision of auxiliary personnel.

Requirements

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire (Required)
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 Days (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Administers medications and treatments accurately and according to provider's orders.
  • Allows resident choices within limits of capability, considering safety and dignity issues, and follows policies and procedures of the facility to include resident privacy and dignity.
  • Assigns duties to non-professional staff such as CNAs according to education, training, policy, and resident need to assure quality resident care is delivered.
  • Engages team members for optimal performance and addresses performance as needed.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates resident care plans.
  • Identifies changes in condition with proper documentation following the Interact process.
  • Demonstrates consistent follow-through for positive resident outcomes.
  • Utilizes good judgment and specialized skills.
