Licensed Practical Nurse
About The Position
Student Health Services, a department of the Office of Student Life, is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join their multi-disciplinary team. The LPN will provide primary care, ambulatory care, and clinical services to students at The Ohio State University. This role involves being a primary point of contact for clinical services, including taking patient histories, recording vital signs, assisting providers with procedures, administering medications and injections, carrying out clinical orders, administering IV fluids, and documenting all patient interactions in the electronic health record.
Requirements
- Graduated from an approved school of practical nursing.
- Current Ohio LPN-Pharmacology license or ability to obtain prior to start date.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support - Health Care Worker certification or ability to obtain prior to start date.
- IV Certification and experience.
- Experience with electronic health information management systems.
Nice To Haves
- 2 years’ work experience in an ambulatory care setting.
- Experience working with an adolescent age population.
- Working knowledge of communicable disease and control.
Responsibilities
- Provide primary care, ambulatory care, and clinical services to students.
- Serve as a primary initial contact with clinical services.
- Obtain patient reason for visit and vital signs.
- Assist providers with procedures.
- Administer injections and other medications.
- Carry out clinical orders.
- Administer Intravenous fluids (IV).
- Document all information in the electronic health record.
