Licensed Practical Nurse / LPN
About The Position
McKenney Home Care is seeking Florida-licensed LPNs for PRN private-duty nursing opportunities in clients’ homes. Nurses provide one-on-one care and work independently, with support from the agency’s office and nursing team. Schedules depend on client needs, nurse availability, experience, location, and case requirements; PRN hours are not guaranteed. Opportunities may include day or evening visits, overnight shifts, weekends, short skilled nursing visits, and recurring assignments when available. The position serves clients with chronic conditions, post-hospital needs, and ongoing nursing needs. Nurses follow the established plan of care, agency policies, nursing direction, and client-specific care plans, and complete documentation in the WellSky app. McKenney Home Care is a family-owned agency serving Sarasota and Charlotte County through its Venice office, with 24/7 office and nursing support.
Requirements
- Active Florida LPN license in good standing.
- Strong clinical judgment, observation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a private home setting.
- Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Hands-on CPR certification.
- TB test, PPD, or lab screening within the required timeframe, or qualifying chest X-ray.
- Level 2 AHCA background screening.
- Dependable attendance and professional conduct.
Nice To Haves
- Home care, private duty, hospice, hospital, or related nursing experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide skilled nursing care in the client’s home according to the established plan of care.
- Assess and monitor client condition and promptly report changes or concerns.
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered.
- Support clients with chronic conditions, post-hospital needs, and ongoing nursing needs.
- Provide client and family education related to care and safety.
- Communicate with physicians, families, and members of the care team as appropriate.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation in the WellSky app.
- Follow agency policies, nursing direction, and client-specific care plans.
