About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides primary clinical support to providers, patients, and families in an outpatient neurosurgery clinic, assisting with diagnosis and treatment. The role includes following up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing in the medical record, and helping maintain a clean clinical environment. The LPN provides care for patients in the age ranges assigned to the clinical area. This is a regular, full-time position scheduled for 40 hours per week on days at the GWV Medical Office Building. New and experienced LPNs are welcome. Eligible candidates may receive a $5,000 sign-on bonus. Work is typically performed in a clinical environment, and the employee must satisfy job-specific obligations and follow organizational policies and procedures.

Requirements

Graduate from a nursing specialty training program.
Licensed Practical Nurse license.
Basic Life Support certification.

Responsibilities

Obtain and document patient medical history, chief complaint, and vital signs; provide basic medical information for the provider and prepare patients for examinations.
Provide direct clinical care as directed by the provider.
Assist the provider with minor surgical and diagnostic procedures and ancillary diagnostic examinations.
Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and complete associated paperwork accurately and efficiently.
Document ongoing patient communications, prioritize communications to the provider, and respond to patient questions and requests as directed.
Administer medications and vaccines, including intradermal medications and skin testing, under provider direction and within scope of practice.
Clean and set up examination and treatment rooms between cases; maintain asepsis and ensure appropriate instruments, equipment, and patient preparation.
Follow up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing in the medical record.
Promote a clean environment and provide care appropriate to the assigned clinical area's patient age range.
