About The Position

Spectrum Healthcare Resources has a potential opportunity for a civilian Licensed Practical Nurse - BOMC at Nellis Air Force Base, in Las Vegas Nevada. This contract position offers a comprehensive benefits package including Medical, Dental, and Vision, 401(K), PTO and Sick time. The schedule is 40 hours weekly, scheduled between 0730 and 1630 with a 1-hour lunch. The position serves a fully insured patient population with no on-call requirements. This is an opportunity to care for Active Duty, Retirees, and their families. The role includes 11 paid federal holidays.

Requirements

  • Must be a US citizen, or lawful permanent resident, or alien authorized to work in the US.
  • Shall have and maintain a current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  • Shall hold and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS), Certifications must be through American Heart Association or American Red Cross guidelines.
  • Additionally, must provide proof of documented training from the National Foundation for Integrative Medicine (NFIM) or a similar accredited body.
  • Graduate from an accredited community college, junior college, college, or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate State agency; The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Must have a minimum of one year of practical or vocational nurse experience after graduation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a full range of LPN duties within the scope of their license and privileges granted by the MTF.
  • Serve as a Practical Nurse performing patient care and nursing administrative duties in accordance with established policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Monitor and record age-appropriate physiological measurements.
  • Orient new patients to the clinic/hospital environment.
  • Assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed.
  • Provide individualized patient teaching on appropriate topics to include preventative healthcare and health maintenance.
  • Perform basic administrative and clerical duties, including scheduling follow-up appointments, managing referral queues, and communicating with patients via phone or secure messaging.
  • Recognize urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance of the RN and/or MD, Nurse Practitioner or Midwife and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed to include urgent intravenous access and procedures.
  • Maintain a professional manner, display a positive and cooperative attitude, and adhere to all MTF policies regarding safety, patient privacy, and dress code.
  • Perform and complete specimen collections to include urine, catheter collection, venipuncture, tissue biopsies, KOH, STI swabs, GBS swabs, and any other indicated collections in accordance with unit policies/procedures.
