About The Position

Cass County is hiring a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse at the Cass County Jail in North Dakota. The nurse works as part of a nursing team in a correctional healthcare setting, providing patient care in coordination with correctional staff and medical practitioners. The role includes administering prescribed medications and treatments, monitoring patients, responding to emergencies, documenting care, maintaining confidentiality, and supporting patient education and discharge planning. The nurse may also recommend improvements and train new colleagues.

Requirements

Active North Dakota LPN license in good standing.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Strong documentation capabilities and attention to detail.
Comprehensive understanding of the LPN scope of practice.
Knowledge of infection control principles and patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Familiarity with pharmacological practices and nutritional guidelines relevant to patient care.

Responsibilities

Receive briefings from correctional staff about patients in care.
Collaborate with correctional staff to provide continuity of care and contact practitioners to obtain necessary orders.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
Check vital signs and triage officer intake screenings.
Provide emergency first aid when needed.
Record care information and maintain patient confidentiality.
Educate patients about facility policies and discharge planning.
Coordinate with medical services to support appropriate diagnoses and treatment.
Follow infection control and aseptic techniques.
Recommend improvements and train new colleagues.
