About The Position

This role supports the overall health and safety of acute psychiatric patients through medication administration, health assessments, infection control, documentation, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and consultation with direct care staff. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will be a vital clinical presence, responding to medical needs, supporting treatment teams, and ensuring safe, timely, and compassionate care.

Requirements

  • One-year nursing certificate from an accredited college or technical school
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of Kansas
  • Three to six months of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance

Responsibilities

  • Complete nursing assessments and documentation within required timelines.
  • Perform ongoing assessments and monitor vital signs per policy.
  • Administer medications, including psychotropic and PRN medications, and document accurately.
  • Monitor infection control, respond to injuries and emergencies, and provide first aid as needed.
  • Communicate with physicians, guardians, and treatment teams regarding patient health.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all medical interventions, orders, and records.
  • Partner with the staff nutritionist to meet patient dietary needs and report allergies.
  • Participate in treatment planning, staff training, and patient education groups.
  • Assist with lab specimen collection and ensure timely pharmacy coordination.
  • Support safety and wellbeing by following all KVC procedures and protocols.
