Requirements

  • Minimum one year of work experience in a clinical setting
  • Understanding of OSHA guidelines for ambulatory practices
  • Understanding of medical record documentation standards
  • Understanding of medical coding based on the medical record notes to ensure accurate billing.
  • Experience communicating and interacting with physicians
  • Analytical ability strongly preferred
  • Ability to document in the electronic Medical Record, working knowledge of practice management and word processing software
  • Good communication skills and interaction with physicians.
  • Neat, professional appearance.
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Graduate of an Associate, Diploma or Bachelor’s degree nursing program
  • Every LPN will hold a current, unencumbered license to practice in the state employed or compact state.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a member of a strong team to provide nursing care for the comfort and wellbeing of patients.
  • Perform the functions and procedures as identified by the physician.
  • Assist in the delivery of professional medical care to the clinic population in accordance with Allergy Partners policies and procedures.
  • Document assessment, care delivery, patient condition, reaction and progress.
  • Work as a liaison between providers and patients.
  • Provide and reinforce patient and family teaching/counseling within scope of practice.
  • Provide patient education, especially in regard to pharmaceuticals and supports the business goals of the practice.
  • Greet patient and escort them from the waiting room to exam rooms; prepare patients for exam or treatment; take vital signs.
  • Provide assistance to physicians when requested.
  • Perform Spirometry and other breathing tests as ordered.
  • Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
  • Perform patient education when appropriate.
  • Complete appropriate documentation in patient’s medical record to ensure the medical record accurately reflects all services personally provided in accordance with Allergy Partners policies and guidelines.
  • Enter charges for services personally provided in accordance with related Allergy Partners guidelines.
  • Facilitate prescriptions for patients as ordered by physician or nurse practitioner.
  • Perform allergy prick testing and/or intradermal testing as ordered by physician.
  • Comply with regulations, policies and procedures in the clinical area, according to all applicable state and federal laws.
  • Report all incidents accordingly to supervisor, Practice Manager or Compliance Officer as appropriate.
  • Administer allergy injections to shot patients as set forth on physician approved schedule.
  • Monitor patient’s medical status for possible adverse reactions following receipt of allergy injection.
  • Maintain emergency equipment, including oxygen, crash cart and supplies, suction, etc.
  • Appropriately assess/evaluate patient problems over the phone, utilizing approved telephone triage protocol to determine the level of care the caller needs.
  • Demonstrate good clinical judgment, critical thinking skills, assessment skills, careful listening, and good communication skills.
  • Document call thoroughly and close the loop between self, patient, and provider promptly.
  • Scribe for providers as requested/required by role within practice in accordance with Allergy Partners policy.
  • Follow standardized assisted documentation workflows as outlined in scribe policies.
  • Follow up to obtain referrals and insurance authorization as requested and needed.
  • Organize requirements for biologics whether via Specialty Pharmacy or Buy and Bill. This includes proper completion of all necessary paperwork for ordering, billing, and reimbursement of biologics.
  • Maintain clinical supply stock and medication samples.
  • Collaborate with patients, colleagues and interdisciplinary team members to achieve desired outcomes.
  • May start IVs, administer IV medications, and discontinue IVs as trained and as outlined in the relevant state scope of practice.
  • May obtain blood samples, buccal samples, genetic materials, etc.as ordered by Physician/APP.
  • Follow appropriate state scope of practice for licensed LPN.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality; comply with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established by the practice.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of practice management and other computer software as it relates to job functions.
  • Complete all assigned AP training (such as CPR, OSHA, HIPAA, Compliance, Information Security, others) within designated timeframes.
  • Comply with Allergy Partners and respective hub/department policies and report incidents of policy violations to a Supervisor/Manager/Director, Department of Compliance & Privacy or via the AP EthicsPoint hotline.
  • Maintain compliance with all policies and procedures, actively participate in enforcement of all ongoing Cybersecurity efforts to ensure safe and secure IT systems for all employees and clients at Allergy Partners.
  • Remain vigilant and aware of new threats and assist the company by fulfilling an active role in observing, enforcement and reporting of cybersecurity incidents, efforts, programs and fulfill required training on a timely basis as required by frequency and due dates.
  • Attend all regular meetings.
  • Perform all other tasks and projects assigned by the Practice Manager.
  • May also be cross trained on front office activities such as answering phones, scheduling patients, taking payments, and other administrative activities.
