JOB TYPE Classification: Non Exempt Supervises Positions: No JOB SUMMARY The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct patient care and clinical support to oncology patients under the direction or supervision of a Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) or Registered Nurse (RN), consistent with Virginia Board of Nursing regulations and UVA Health policies.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
Current Virginia LPN license.
BLS certification (AHA).
Ability to multitask and prioritize quickly.
Ability to communicate verbally and in written form

Nice To Haves

Oncology or infusion experience.
Chemotherapy/biotherapy competency validation.
Epic experience

Responsibilities

Obtain and document vital signs, focused assessments, and symptom screening in Epic.
Prepare patients for provider visits, procedures, and treatments.
Perform peripheral and port lab draws
Recognize, document, and escalate abnormal findings to RN/provider.
Assist with infusion workflows and patient flow.
Perform venipuncture and maintain peripheral IV access per competency.
Administer approved medications per scope and UVA policy.
Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection per policy
Provide compassionate, patient-centered support
Reinforce treatment plans and patient education
Willing to share responsibilities, support their teammates, and work together to achieve common goals.
Organizes and prioritizes daily work assignments to support patient needs, the interdisciplinary team, and operational efficiency.
Demonstrates teamwork in the delivery of patient care.
Recognizes the importance of time sensitive issues.
Uses knowledge and skills acquired through training and validation
Provides clinical support under the supervision of a licensed practitioner.
Documents and capture charges for clinical support services rendered during the visit.
Performs administrative support responsibilities as directed by a Clinic Leader.
