About The Position

The Summer Programs LPN, under the direction and supervision of the RN, accomplishes the goals and objectives of the Health Services Program for students participating in summer programs. This is a temporary summer position from June 5th - July 10th. This position is not eligible for benefits.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED Required
  • Current License to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of Colorado is required
  • BLS CPR Certification is required
  • Proficiency with Google Suite
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to accurately record, transfer, and present information in an organized manner
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Works collaboratively with others on a team
  • Aptitude for variety and changing expectations in a fast-paced environment with the ability to remain calm in an emergency situation
  • Knowledge of District, county, and state health regulations
  • Ability to meet District standards for physical and mental health
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years clinical nursing experience and/or previous school nurse experience is preferred
  • Preferred Bilingual skills in Spanish a plus
  • Demonstrates respect for children, teenagers, and adults with different systems and beliefs is preferred
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care for the health needs of students participating in summer programs
  • Administer medications and perform nursing procedures with RN supervision and according to DPS Medication Administration Protocol
  • Respond to medical emergencies in a timely manner
  • Participate in the identification process of children with health needs
  • Follow the healthcare plan (IHP) created by the RN
  • Maintain student records and submits data for annual and monthly reports
  • Conducts and coordinates mandated vision and hearing screenings for students participating in the summer programs
  • Ensures compliance with related laws and policies, such as reporting suspected child abuse, immunizations, and Child Health and Disability Prevention (CHDP) laws
  • Monitor and report infectious disease
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
