About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a PRN position in Medical Specialties. This role supports licensed healthcare team members in providing patient care, including direct patient care, educating patients and families, and following established care plans. The LPN works collaboratively with Registered Nurses and other licensed healthcare professionals to evaluate patient progress and adjust care plans as needed. All patient care activities are performed under the delegation and supervision of a licensed professional, adhering to VUMC standards and licensure regulations. The position involves 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, on a PRN (as needed) basis, with no holiday, weekend, or on-call duties. Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with patients/families and health care providers in the delivery of health care services.
  • Partners with the healthcare team by following established plan of care to ensure patient progress for effective outcomes.
  • Supports plans to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
  • Performs nursing interventions such as wound care, point of care testing, and vital signs.
  • Participates in the development of the plan of care in consultation with the licensed healthcare team.
  • Anticipates resource needs, identifies distinct tasks, sets priorities, schedules activities, meets deadlines, and organizes work within areas of direct responsibility.
  • Handles multiple assignments, often simultaneously, prioritizing work into manageable and measurable units.
  • Adapts to changes in patient care and area needs with minimal disruption and loss of productivity.
  • Follows up to assure problems and issues are resolved.
  • Demonstrates patient education in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
  • Collects, reports, and records objective and subjective data in an accurate and timely manner for nursing assessment.
