About The Position

This role provides important pre-surgical patient care by contacting patients, seeing them in our PAT Clinic prior to surgery, and ensuring they are well prepared for their day of surgery. The role is not physically strenuous, requiring mostly computerized data entry, phone use, in-person meetings with patients. There is no call requirement and no weekend work requirement, creating enhanced work-life balance.

Requirements

Active Virginia LPN license (single-state) or compact license. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
Graduate of a practical school of nursing required.
AHA BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

Contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care; may administer medication.
Documents patient care provided.
Assists RN with development of plan of care.
Assists patients with daily living activities including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Monitors, documents, and communicates patient status and responses to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and family.
Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
