About The Position

This role involves working closely with adult patients in an outpatient neurology setting, primarily covering a Botox/nerve injection clinic. The LPN will perform pre-visit phone calls, complete forms, reinforce patient education, and assist in other outpatient functions. Collaboration with RNs, Neurologists, and medical secretaries is essential. While prior LPN experience in inpatient or outpatient settings is preferred, new graduates are also encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a school of practical nursing or passed LPN Boards after a defined period in a professional nursing program.
  • If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of LPN experience working in an applicable setting is required.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.
  • Current LPN license by applicable state requirements.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) must be valid for 90 days post start date; acceptable certifications include: American Heart Association (AHA)/ Heartcode® BLS, Military Training Network, Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers).
  • Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working as an LPN in inpatient or outpatient setting.
  • Neurology experience preferred.
  • One year LPN experience within the last five years preferred.
  • Prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to assigned patients under the direct supervision of the registered nurse (RN) or other assigned supervisor.
  • Accept delegation from the RN/assigned supervisor in meeting the needs of the patient/family.
  • Collect data through observation and communicate information to assist the RN and/or provider in patient assessment and care planning.
  • Participate as a member of the health care team.
  • Deliver care in accordance with the patient care plan, policies and procedures of the organization, and principles of relationship-based care.
  • Perform pre-visit phone calls.
  • Fill out forms.
  • Reinforce patient education.
  • Assist in other outpatient roles.
  • Work closely with RNs, Neurologists, and medical secretaries in the outpatient setting.
  • Cover the Botox/nerve injection clinic.
  • Possess excellent communication skills.
  • Be skillful in mentoring and instructing.
  • May participate on committees or projects, including quality improvement projects.
