About The Position

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide nursing care to assigned patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or other assigned supervisor. The LPN will collect data through observation and communicate information to assist the RN and/or provider in patient assessment and care planning. This role involves participating as a member of the health care team, delivering care in accordance with the patient care plan, and adhering to organizational policies and procedures. The LPN will utilize excellent communication skills, be skillful in mentoring and instructing, and may participate in committees or projects, including quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a school of practical nursing or passed LPN Boards after a defined period in a professional nursing program.
  • If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of LPN experience working in an applicable setting is required.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.
  • Current LPN license by applicable state requirements.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) must be valid for 90 days post start date; acceptable certifications include: American Heart Association (AHA)/ Heartcode® BLS, Military Training Network, Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers).
  • Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Nice To Haves

  • ENT, Tracheostomy and Peds experience helpful.
  • One year LPN experience within the last five years preferred.
  • Prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care in accordance with the patient care plan, policies and procedures of the organization and principles of relationship-based care.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills.
  • Is skillful in mentoring and instructing.
  • May participate on committees or projects, including quality improvement projects.
