About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse - OB provides general nursing care to the patients within the LPN scope of practice and following all standards of care and facility requirements.

Requirements

• Experience in obstetrics or maternity nursing
• Completion of accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program required
• Florida LPN license required
• Strong clinical skills in fetal monitoring and neonatal care
• Compassionate and empathetic nature
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Computer competency
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Possess a good working knowledge of Electronic Medical Records.
• Ability to perform clinical assessments and administer medications
• Strong teamwork and collaborations skills

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSM) degree
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet and room patients promptly and with courtesy
• Take full vital signs, as well as weight and height at each office visit.
• Explain procedures to patients to allay apprehension and gain cooperation. Have patient fill out appropriate paperwork before each procedure.
• Monitor the health of pregnant women and developing babies
• Assist in labor and delivery processes
• Provided postpartum care to mothers and newborns
• Educate and support expectant mothers on prenatal health
• Administer medications and manage pain relief during labor
• Conduct routine tests and fetal monitoring
• Collaborate with obstetricians and other health care providers
• Manage and update patient records
• Respond to emergencies and complications during childbirth
• Offer emotional support and counseling to patients and families
• Perform postpartum assessments and screenings
• Assist with breastfeeding support and education
• Ensure a sterile and safe environment during delivery
• Coordinate follow-up appointments and postpartum visits
• Make lab and specialty appointments for patients
• Respond to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures and protocols within the scope of nursing practice.
• Other duties as assigned
