About The Position

This role involves providing high-level patient-centered care in a physician office setting, with responsibilities split between Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and Medical Assistant (MA) duties. The LPN will focus on patient intake, vital signs, preparing patients for exams, assisting healthcare providers, administering medications, and patient education. The MA will perform clinical skills within the scope of Florida Statutes, potentially including clerical, insurance, and medical record functions. The position may require floating to other practices as needed. This is a full-time, day shift position within Pediatric Specialties - Neuromedicine.

Requirements

  • Licensed LPN eligible to practice in the State of Florida
  • Graduate of an accredited course of study as a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (Accredited MA certifications include, but are not limited to, AAMA, NHA, NCCT, AMCA, AAMA and AMT)
  • EMT license can be used in lieu of an MA certification
  • AHA or Red Cross Basic Life Support (CPR) is required or must be obtained within first 90 days of employment
  • Must successfully complete medication test within 30 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • One year of ambulatory care or hospital experience preferred (for LPN)
  • One year of direct patient care experience in an ambulatory care setting is preferred (for MA)

Responsibilities

  • Measuring and recording vital signs
  • Placing patients in exam rooms
  • Preparing patients for exams/procedures
  • Assisting the health care provider with exams/procedures
  • Providing patient support during exams
  • Maintaining medical supply inventory
  • Stocking exam rooms
  • Administering medications
  • Processing patient phone calls per practice protocols
  • Instructing patients regarding health care and treatments
  • Providing health care provider with information pertaining to patients' health status
  • Performing clerical, insurance, and medical record functions (for MA duties)
  • Floating to other practices, as needed, for staffing
