Licensed Practical Nurse / Medical Assistant | Family Medicine at Millhopper | Day Shift | Full-time
About The Position
This role involves providing high-level patient-centered care in a physician office setting. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will focus on measuring and recording vital signs, preparing patients for exams/procedures, assisting healthcare providers, maintaining inventory, and administering medications. The LPN will also handle patient phone calls, provide patient education, and report patient health status. The Medical Assistant (MA) provides patient care under the direct responsibility of a licensed physician, performing clinical skills within the scope of Florida Statutes and UFHP Clinical Policy and Procedure. The MA may also handle clerical, insurance, and medical record functions. Both roles may be required to float to other Family Medicine practices as needed for staffing.
Requirements
- Licensed LPN eligible to practice in the State of Florida
- Graduate of an accredited course of study as a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant
- Accredited MA certifications include, but are not limited to, AAMA, NHA, NCCT, AMCA, AAMA and AMT
- EMT license can be used in lieu of an MA certification
- Current Licensed LPN eligible to practice in the State of Florida OR must possess and maintain current certification or registration as a Medical Assistant
- AHA or Red Cross Basic Life Support (CPR) is required or must be obtained within first 90 days of employment
- Must maintain current Basic Life Support (CPR)
- Must successfully complete medication test within 30 days of hire

- One year of direct patient care experience in an ambulatory care setting is preferred (for MA)

Responsibilities
- Measuring and recording vital signs

- Maintaining medical supply inventory
- Stocking exam rooms
- Administering medications
- Processing patient phone calls per practice protocols
- Instructing patients regarding health care and treatments
- Providing health care provider with information pertaining to patients' health status
- Performing clinical skills within the scope of a Medical Assistant as defined by Florida Statutes 458.3485 and UFHP Clinical Policy and Procedure
- Performing clerical, insurance, and medical record functions
