This role at SDMA Women's Health Clinic involves dual responsibilities as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and a Medical Assistant (MA). The LPN is responsible for providing quality patient care under the supervision of a physician, collaborating with the physician and floor nurses on patient care coordination, handling prior authorizations, referrals, and medication refills. The LPN also assists with patient flow, scheduling appointments, procedures, and tests. Strong medication management experience is preferred but not required for the LPN duties. The Medical Assistant assists in patient examinations and treatments under physician direction, interviews patients, obtains vital signs, records information, and may collect blood samples and prepare specimens for lab analysis. The MA also coordinates patient flow, schedules appointments, procedures, tests, and referrals, may triage phone calls, call in non-narcotic prescriptions as directed, and communicates with patients and families. The MA assists with regulatory and compliance needs of the clinic and works under the close supervision of the physician and clinic manager.
