MAT Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
About The Position
NaphCare is hiring a Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) LPN to join their team of medical professionals in New Brunswick, New Jersey. This role involves managing all aspects of healthcare for individuals incarcerated in the Middlesex County Jail. As a Correctional Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) LPN, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to a diverse population of patients with complex medical needs. New graduates are encouraged to apply as training in correctional healthcare will be provided.
Requirements
- Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Actively state-certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
- Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (AHA required)
- Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

Responsibilities
- Performing comprehensive patient assessments to determine eligibility for MAT, including medical history, substance use history, mental health evaluation, and physical examination
- Administering MAT medications as prescribed, ensuring proper dosing, and monitoring for adverse effects and drug interaction
- Educating patients about MAT medications, potential side effects, and the importance of medication adherence, addressing misconceptions and stigma
- Monitoring patients in the induction, stabilization, and phases of treatment patient ensuring adherence to the program
- Maintaining medical records, including entering information into our electronic health record, TechCare
- Observing patient health and mental health status
- Providing emergency first aid
- Providing patient education and discharge/release planning
