About The Position

The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board is seeking a compassionate and dependable Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team. In this role, you will provide direct nursing care and support to individuals living with mental illness or developmental disability. The LPN works as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of the individuals we serve. Since 1971, the Hampton - Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality, essential, and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are living with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, you will be assisting the psychiatrist or medical doctor with the prescription, administration, and monitoring of medications, conducting client assessments, delivering medical-based treatment services, and providing crisis intervention and supportive counseling. Requirements

  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • One (1) year of experience in medication administration in a substance abuse treatment, psychiatric setting, or long-term care facility, including the dispensing of narcotic medication.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care and support to individuals living with mental illness or developmental disability.
