About The Position

Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare (TMH) is a private, nonprofit community-based healthcare system serving a 22-county region in North Florida and South Georgia. As a career destination, TMH employs over 6,000 colleagues who reflect the diversity of the community. TMH is the region's healthcare leader and top provider of advanced care, featuring a 772-bed acute care hospital and the region's only Level II Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care, and Pediatric Intensive Care. The system also boasts the most advanced cancer, heart and vascular, orthopedic, and surgery programs in the Panhandle. Additionally, TMH includes a psychiatric hospital, multiple specialty care centers, six residency programs, and over 50 affiliated physician practices. LPN full-time positions may be available on various units, including the Angie Deeb Cancer Center, Cardiac and Neurology Clinical Decision Unit, Diabetes Medical Care Unit, Internal Medicine Unit, Neurology/Neurosurgery Unit, Orthopedic/Trauma Center Unit, Postoperative Care/Trauma Unit, Behavioral Health Center (BHC), and Women's & Children's (L&D, FCU). Availability of positions fluctuates and is filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Relocation assistance may be available for specific units for applicants residing at least 70 miles from Tallahassee, Florida.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., certificate of high school equivalency)
  • Licensed as a practical nurse in accordance with Florida Statutes (FS), Title XXXII (Regulation of Professions and Occupations), Chapter 464 (Nursing), Part I (Nurse Practice Act).
  • Florida LPN intravenous (IV) therapy certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification from an accredited instructor from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Other specialized life support requirements designated by work area.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) to five (5) years of job-related experience

Responsibilities

  • Functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner.
  • Provides patient care collaboratively with the RN.
  • Displays respect for the patient’s rights, dignity, values, confidentiality and expressed needs.
  • Is adaptable, using evidenced based practice and information technologies while maintaining focus on providing comfort, relieving pain and alleviating anxiety.
  • Performs tasks in compliance with department and policies and procedures, and within educational preparation as well as the Florida Nurse Practice Act.
