About The Position

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work in Powell River, BC. This role operates within a client and family-centred care model and adheres to the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice. The LPN will perform full-scope practical nursing functions for clients with predictable outcomes in a designated specialty area, including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of client care, as well as providing support to clients and their families. The LPN will also collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team and support the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or complex care needs. Requirements

  • Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Performing full scope of practical nursing functions for clients with predictable outcomes within a designated area of specialty.
  • Assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting client care.
  • Providing support to clients and their families.
  • Working collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team.
  • Supporting the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or where the acuity or complexity of care requires an advanced level of knowledge and skill beyond the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses.
  • Maintaining and advancing clinical competence pursuant to the standards of practice of BCCNM for Licensed Practical Nurses.
