About The Position

As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Reports to: Director or Manager of Emergency Department. A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who excels in this role contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN. Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care; may administer medication. Documents patient care provided. Assists RN with development of plan of care. Assists patient with daily living activities including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition and ambulation. Monitors, documents and communicates patient status and responses to interventions with RN, physician, patient and family. Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient. Participates in performance improvement and continuing education. Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts/units as needed. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited LPN program.
  • Current LPN license in state of practice
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required)
