About The Position

As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care to patients in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN. Establishes and maintains efficient methods of ensuring the medical necessity and appropriateness of all hospital admissions while obtaining precertifications. Performs admission and concurrent precerts for patients to ensure that the claim has an authorization number to prevent denials. Reviews charts for clinical information to obtain precertification. Maintains proper telephone etiquette to referral sources. Manages patients along with RN case manager supervision. Evaluates patient status for correctness per medical necessity for appropriate reimbursement. Non-Essential Functions: Review and comply with LifePoint Code of Conduct and all relevant Company and Division policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Current LPN license in state of NC

Nice To Haves

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with payors, staff, etc.
