Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
About The Position
Posterity Group LLC, a veteran-owned, service-disabled small business specializing in federal government contracting and staffing, is seeking Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to staff The VA Hudson Valley and the Castle Point VA Medical Center. The LPN will provide skilled nursing care to patients in the Intermediate/Medical Nursing Home Care Unit and psychiatric patients. They may perform procedures approved for Medical Center staff as outlined in the Licensed Practical Nurse Act and Vocational Nurse VA Qualification Standards. Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, the LPN will collaborate with other healthcare professionals across various units, including ambulatory care, critical care, nursing home, and the Emergency Room, at both the Montrose and Castle Point VA Medical Centers. The LPN will operate both independently and under guidance and supervision from the Nurse Manager or their designee. The scheduled shifts include 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM, 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM, and 7:30 PM to 8:00 AM, including Federal Holidays.
Requirements
- Possess the knowledge and skills necessary to prepare, administer, and accurately document commonly prescribed oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and/or intravenous medications, in accordance with approved local facility policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate the ability to work responsibly as part of the nursing team and interact professionally with patients, family members, and other healthcare personnel involved in patient care, while adhering to established customer service standards.
- Be a graduate of a state-approved school of practical or vocational nursing.
- Hold an active, current licensure as a professional nurse in the state, District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.
- Possess a current CPR/BLS certificate by the American Heart Association.
Responsibilities
- Provide skilled nursing care to patients in the Intermediate/Medical Nursing Home Care Unit and Psychiatric patients.
- Perform procedures approved for Medical Center staff as outlined in the Licensed Practical Nurse Act and Vocational Nurse VA Qualification Standards.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals as needed across various units, including ambulatory care, critical care, nursing home, and the Emergency Room throughout the Montrose and Castle Point VA Medical Centers.
- Operate both independently and under guidance and supervision from the Nurse Manager or their designee.
