DSHS YVS Licensed Practical Nurse - LPN
About The Position
Yakima Valley School is hiring for a Licensed Practical Nurse to care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This nurse checks on residents, gives medications, and watches for changes in health. The work keeps residents safe and helps them stay as healthy and independent as possible. We value our Nurses and understand how important you are to our residents, their families and our facility. Our clients grow stronger and more independent with the help of our skilled nursing staff. Every day, this nurse works closely with doctors, guardians, and a team of other staff. Good nursing care here means fewer health emergencies and better daily life for residents. Nurses on this team see the direct result of their work in the people they care for. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
Requirements
- Valid license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Washington State, or the ability to obtain a valid license prior to employment.
- Valid driver's license (if driving on state business).
- Liability insurance on privately owned vehicle (if driving a privately owned vehicle on state business).
Responsibilities
- Assess the needs of people with developmental or intellectual disabilities.
- Administer medications and treatments to residents to maintain and improve their overall health.
- Practice infection control concepts.
- Promote a safe environment for our residents.
- Contact physicians and guardians.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team.
