Requirements

Licensure as an LPN in Louisiana, unencumbered and must maintain license renewal in accordance with the standards of the State Board of Nursing.
1+ years’ experience in nursing (long term care preferred).
CPR certified.
IV certified.
Commitment to person directed care.
Excellent computer skills and able to use EHR, MS Outlook, and phone/fax.
Proficient in use of medical terminology.

Nice To Haves

Specialized training or experience in dementia care and geriatric nursing preferred.

Able to advocate for needs of either household, resident, family or staff as needed.
Able to provide clear directions and explanations and elicits trust and cooperation from staff.
Good supervision skills – provides clear directions and expectations as well as providing clear, effective feedback.
Able to communicate resident’s medical needs clearly with staff and families, and facilitates other staff participation in medical care through eliciting others’ observations, suggestions, etc.
Able to communicate clearly and effectively with physicians.
Performs nursing functions within the household to ensure the provision of effective daily care and services to each resident in accordance with their assessment, choices and plan of care.
The ability to work successfully both independently and with the care team in household settings.
Able to think “outside the box” and develop individualized care as indicated
