The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Urgent Care will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care or arrange for the provision of appropriate care, for patients, as pertinent to the scope of nursing practice and specialty of the office setting. This role involves accurately documenting all patient care/interactions in the patient medical record, participating in telephone triage, and ensuring ordered laboratory and diagnostic tests are tracked and logged. The LPN will also be involved in pre-visit planning, medication administration, checking vital signs, assisting with medication history updates, and assisting providers during procedures. They will utilize standard precautions, comply with various regulatory standards, and report patient conditions and reactions to the provider. Additionally, the LPN will assist with patient inquiries for prescription refills, appointment scheduling, and referral authorizations, and participate in electronic documentation of care. This role includes performing CLIA-approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing, including Point of Care testing, and adhering to CLIA standards. Quality control and maintenance for Point of Care in-office lab procedures, venipuncture, and collection of specimens for laboratory testing are also key responsibilities. The LPN will provide patients with a Depart Summary and review it at the end of the visit. They are responsible for all vaccine and pharmaceutical orders, including applicable state Immunization Registry regulations, and monitoring inventory levels of clinical supplies.
