About The Position

The Nurse Residency Program is designed for new graduate nurses with less than one year of experience. Residents attend quality and core curriculum classes, participate in professional development workshops and peer support groups, and complete the program’s clinical competencies and validation requirements. Working under the direct and indirect supervision of the Clinical Education Team, residents refine nursing knowledge and skills and manage assigned clinical situations under the direct supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse, who oversees clinical experiences, documentation, and procedures. The program combines core clinical training with specialty-specific education, including quality and safety classes, simulation labs, one-on-one skills validation, hands-on learning with clinical mentors, and ongoing professional development. Residents must graduate at least 45 days before the cohort start date of December 7. Residents follow organizational policies and procedures, including those for licensure renewal, training, employee health screenings, attendance, dress code, confidentiality, infection control, and medication administration. The position is in the Emergency Department at Blount Memorial Hospital and works the night shift. The Graduate Nurse completes all clinical skills under the direct supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse and performs other duties as assigned.
